Іспанія. Sí, soy una lagartija
QUERIDO LECTOR
¿Os acordáis de la pequeña lagartija de los ojos rojos, aquella que se fue sola por el mundo? Sí, esa a la que todos gritaban: «¡No eres una lagartija, eres un monstruo horrible!». ¿La recordáis? Pues ha vuelto. Aquí la tenéis, pero ahora todo ha cambiado: por fin ha encontrado un amigo y está dispuesta a marchar con él.
Venid conmigo, vamos a seguirlos. ¿Cómo lo haremos?... Pues leyendo la historia que está dentro de este libro. Pasando sus páginas veremos qué es lo que sucede, si esta lagartija está contenta o si está triste, si se divierte o lo pasa muy mal... Y, además, veremos a otros personajes, entraremos en sus casas, viviremos con ellos. Así nos parecerá que los conocemos, será como si nosotros nos metiéramos también dentro de la historia, como si fuéramos un personaje más.
Vamos, la historia comienza: el sol ha salido y el día está aquí. Mirad, ahí está la pequeña lagartija de los ojos rojos, ha
pasado la noche en un castillo de arena y ha tenido sueños maravillosos, por eso no se quiere despertar. Pero alguien la llama, ¿quién será? ¿Un ser peligroso? ¿Algún enemigo? ¿Alguien que le va a gritar «¡No eres una lagartija!»?
La pobre lagartijita está muy asustada. ¿Qué va a suceder de ahora en adelante? ¿Lo queréis saber? Entonces, ¡leamos! Pero antes de comenzar, digámosle en voz baja, para que no se asuste (recordad que acaba de despertarse): «¡Ánimo!, no tengas miedo, nosotros estaremos contigo y, pase lo que pase, no vamos a abandonarte».
Y ahora yo me despido: adiós, mis queridos lectores, gracias por acompañar a mi pequeña lagartija de los ojos rojos hasta el final. Y al final... me parece que al final todos estaremos contentos.

Está amaneciendo, la noche se ha ido y el día vuelve despacito. Llega alegremente. Es claro y azul.
Poco a poco el jardín despierta: los pájaros cantan y el aire mueve suavemente las hojas de todos los árboles. Las flores separan los pétalos y alzan la cabeza...
Por entre la hierba marchan de puntillas saltamontes, orugas, hormigas...
Las mariposas agitan las alas y se desperezan.
Al lado de un banco se alza un castillo hecho con arena. Tiene cuatro torres con cuatro banderas, un foso y un puente, y a su alrededor hay una muralla con muchas almenas.
Lo hizo una niña ayer por la tarde.
En ese castillo hay alguien que aún duerme. Es un monstruo horrible, aunque muy pequeño. El sol le ha mandado uno de sus rayos, el más suavecito, que roza su cara como una caricia.
El monstruo despierta.
